The Cinema for Aberdeen Just Got Closer

Belmont Community Cinema Ltd was selected by Aberdeen City Council as the preferred operator of The Belmont Cinema in Aberdeen, and since then our trustees, team and volunteers have been working hard to raise funds, spread our message and run events across the community.

After amazing support from Crowdfunding, donations, events and screenings; and successful funding applications; we are delighted to have been awarded a significant investment from the National Lottery Heritage Fund

This award will enable us to progress to the next phase of our campaign to reimagine, refurbish and reopen Aberdeen's cinema.

OUR MISSION

To ensure that The Belmont Cinema is sustainably reopened to the cultural and educational benefit of Aberdeen and those who live here.

Our core aim is that an inclusive and accessible cinema / cultural space is available in our city centre for many years to come.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO
MAKE THIS VISION FOR OUR
CINEMA A REALITY.

YOUR SUPPORT IS STILL VITAL

We are making headway, but we can't do this without you. There are a number of ways to support the campaign to reimagine, refurbish and reopen The Belmont Cinema in Aberdeen.

Every donation, community activity and social media share makes a very real difference in this campaign to make exciting ideas come to life — it all matters.

HOW DID IT START?

In October 2022, the ‘Save the Belmont Cinema’ campaign was formed in response to the sudden closure of the Belmont Cinema in Aberdeen city centre.

Since then, what started as a 'campaign steering group' has been working steadily to develop a plan of action for the refurbishment and successful re-opening of this iconic city venue — establishing the charity Belmont Community Cinema Ltd in 2023.

THE CINEMA IS
FOR EVERYONE

Since the 'Save the Belmont Cinema' group was originally established in late 2022, our campaign and the wider community surrounding it have grown and evolved.

The groundswell of support built up from these initial meetings and local coverage has spread far and wide, and our community includes local businesses, organisations and groups who have a stake in Aberdeen's cultural and commercial future.
