Belmont Community Cinema Ltd appoint their Head of Income Generation and Business Development

Following the recent appointment of TINTO as lead architect on the redesign of the Belmont Cinema, the team’s focus turns to the fundraising process to help turn that vision into a reality.

Fundraising for the refurbishment and reopening of Aberdeen’s beloved Belmont Cinema will be spearheaded by Belmont Community Cinema Ltd’s new Head Of Income Generation and Business Development, Sarah Dingwall.

Dingwall joined the Belmont team in early January, having previously worked at Robert Gordon University and the University of Aberdeen, and comes to the role with over twenty years experience in development, fundraising, stakeholder engagement and alumni relations.

Speaking about what appealed to her about the plans for the Belmont, Sarah Dingwall said:

“I am delighted to be joining the incredible team at The Belmont.

“The cinema is sorely missed, and I am looking forward to working with partners across the region to bring our much-loved, unique, independent cinema back to Aberdeen.

“The cinema is a vital asset, serving those who live, work and study in the north-east, by providing a social space to come together, to learn, to explore and to be entertained.

“The ambitious plans to create a cultural, educational, and social hub in the heart of Aberdeen will benefit residents and visitors to the city for years to come.”

Dingwall will be responsible for developing and implementing the charity’s fundraising strategy to achieve their ambitious target of £2 million.

The funds will be used to refurbish the cinema to create a premium cinema experience for customers, a modern education space, and a welcoming cafe bar. In addition, to create a sustainable business and secure the long-term future of the cinema, improving the energy efficiency and accessibility of the venue for all Aberdonians to enjoy.

Jacob Campbell, Trustee of Belmont Community Cinema Ltd., expressed his delight at Sarah’s addition to the team:

Amongst an extremely high-calibre of applications for this role, Sarah was our stand-out candidate. Our Board have been incredibly impressed with her track-record working on fundraising and business development at well-established institutions across the city over the last twenty years, and we have warmly welcomed her onboard the Good Ship Belmont.

“Having been a customer at the cinema before its untimely closure, Sarah’s vision and energy for our plans is infectious. We are extremely confident that we have secured a fantastic Head of Income Generation who deeply believes in our mission to put film, education, community and customer experience at the heart of Belmont’s future.”

The Belmont Cinema’s fundraising campaign is currently planned to launch in the summer.
