Tenders Invited: Architect-Led Design Team for Belmont Cinema Refurbishment
The Belmont Cinema is one of Aberdeen's most cherished cultural venues. It plays an important role in the city's cultural and civic life. The city-centre cinema, which is currently in disrepair, requires refurbishment in order to reopen to the public. This ambitious project aims to secure the long-term future of the cinema through sensitive refurbishment, modernisation and enhancement of the building. It will deliver an accessible, sustainable and vibrant venue for audiences and the wider community.
We are looking to appoint an architect-led design team with the experience required to develop and deliver a high-quality refurbishment programme that respects the building's character while supporting its future operations.
As the project progresses, we are currently seeking tenders from suitably qualified architect-led design teams to shape the future of this iconic venue.
Scope of Services
The successful tenderer will lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team required to deliver the project from RIBA stage 2 through to completion. The commission is expected to include architectural, conservation, structural engineering, building services engineering, quantity surveying and principal designer services.
The appointed team will be expected to demonstrate experience in:
• Cinemas
• Conservation
• Refurbishment and adaptation of existing buildings
• Sustainable retrofit and decarbonisation
• Stakeholder engagement and collaborative project delivery
