Vattenfall's "Unlock Our Future Fund" awards £10,000 grant to The Belmont
We are delighted to have been awarded a grant of £10K from the Vattenfall “Unlock Our Future Fund”, through Foundation Scotland.
The fund supports projects in Aberdeen that will have a lasting impact, bringing benefit to the community and are environmentally sustainable.
The grant will contribute towards the costs of a brand-new 4K laser projector in the refurbished Belmont Cinema.
By upgrading the existing equipment to laser projectors, it will not only provide audiences with the very best experience when viewing a film, but they can use up to 70% less energy than xenon lamp projectors. This will ensure that a refurbished and reopened Belmont Cinema is firmly on the path towards Net Zero.
Jacob Campbell said:
“We are delighted to have been awarded funding from the Vattenfall “Unlock Our Future" Fund." The values and ambition of The Belmont Cinema directly matches the aims of the fund. That is to bring benefit to Aberdeen and the community through reimagining and reopening what will be Aberdeen’s only independent cinema, film education centre and a welcoming social space.
Part of the strategy for the refurbishment of the much-loved Belmont is to ensure energy efficiency and sustainability, and wherever possible to reduce the environmental impact of the cinema building. This funding from Vattenfall supports this strategy.”
